“Wouldn’t it be dreadful to live in a country where they didn’t have tea?”
― Sir Noël Coward 1899 – 1973
“and healthcare kept getting worse?” – DrGuide 2024
You can say it all started 8 years ago when I started to improve health service in a specific part of London, I ended up publishing the only patient guide to Pharmacy in the UK, to this date. Being a Pharmacist or Chemist is a very satisfying profession. I spend my days finding solutions for others – makes a good life, I think anyway.
I am still striving to improve greater health for Patients. In 2018 my findings showed me an “information hole” which I filled by writing the aforementioned guide.
Over the years, other ideas led me to different conclusions, but none I could definitely say would improve your health over and above taking medicines. Using some mathematics for the last 2 years, I now conclude that your first step in any health issue is one of the most important factor, which can improve your health. Similarly, every step in the wrong direction will delay your healthcare.
So, what Sir Noël would make of waiting time if he was growing old now? What about our overall health as a nation? Around 75% of 45-74 year are overweight if not obese, 50% of over 50 years suffer mental health issues, what joy could tea hold if god forbid, dementia makes it impossible to recall childhood memories?
I am not bright enough to stop the arrow of time, for now, you and I will get old – but I am young with plenty of tea to help everyone reduce the anxiety and physical pain that comes with waiting to find the solution.
All else being equal, the ability to receive the right health information is the most important factor in deciding the outcome of our health issues. UK has the best healthcare professionals – and of course, I am biased. However, the challenge for my generation is to get the right healthcare at the right time or in other words reduce the waiting time.
So, let’s carry on and carry on and carry on and never stop !
